Revenue in the Print Newspapers & Magazines market in
the United Kingdom is forecasted to achieve US$3.71bn by 2024.
The anticipated annual growth rate (CAGR 2024-2029) is
-4.16%, leading to a projected market volume of US $3.00bn by 2029. User
penetration is set to be 28.1% in 2024 and is projected to decrease to 14.4% by
2029. When compared globally, the majority of revenue will be generated the in
the United States, amounting to US$24,650.00m in 2024.
Print is still a significant medium for many but has been in
long-term decline, with digital editions and subscriptions for the most part
not making up for this drop in sales.
Due to recent times of technology, there has been a decrease
in circulation of physical copies. This is because people can find out the
latest information from websites, this means that people can find out the
latest and get updates on their site instead of waiting a month or week for all
the information to be put in a physical magazine.
With music magazines in recent years there was a massive decrease with physical prints, we found that with lockdown there weren’t any new realise or upcoming events or drama with these artists so this led to a massive decrease in readership with the physical print, people can find out information about specific artists that they read for online, due to these artists having social media, to inform them about the latest news about upcoming songs.
Knock on effect.
With the drop employment music industry in the UK this would
have affected the music magazines as well.
However, since then this has recovered and the same can be
said about music magazines.
The Rolling Stones Magazine
The magazine sold 1.39 million copies over its subscription
service and 73.35 thousand copies at newsstands. Its total paid circulation
amounted to 1.46 million copies.

sales declines saw its circulation drop to just 15,000. It relaunched as an
ad-funded, free title with a circulation of 300,000 in a last throw of the dice
for the print edition.

leading position in the music space and now attracts more than 3m UK unique
users and more than 13m global unique users each month. On social, NME’s reach
is more than 200m each month.
J-POP
The most recent statistics published by the Recording
Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) revealed that Japan’s recorded music
production and digital music sales value in 2022 reached 307 billion yen
(US$2.4 billion) marking a 9% increase from the previous year and exceeding 300
billion yen for the first time in four years.
In the latest Music 360 study, Luminate focused attention in
Japan to understand consumers’ physical music behaviours, the impact of the
pandemic on music, and whether Japan is poised on the edge of mainstream music
streaming adoption.
With data gathered in the spring, research revealed that 59%
of the General Population (13+) engaged with music over the past year, showing
that it’s a much smaller music market compared to the other countries Luminate
has studied during the pandemic (Spain, France, U.S.).
Not surprisingly, J-Pop is far and away the most popular
genre (81% listenership), followed by Kayokyoku with 58% listenership. When looking at how music fans consume music,
31% have purchased physical music (e.g. cassettes, vinyl, CDs), while 15% have
purchased digital music (e.g. individual albums or tracks). Japan is a relatively newer streaming market
with 75% of Music Listeners streaming and 64% streaming via free services.
